AMD Radeon RX 6700 may not launch with the RX 6700 XT
With the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT set to be announced by AMD during the company’s official launch event in March, fans have so much to look forward to. But just so you know we will not be seeing the rumored and less powerful counterparts, RX 6700.
According to information credited to the French publication Cowcotland: “Only the RX 6700 XT will be announced. There was indeed an RX 6700 in the red program, for March 15th, but it has been delayed (for the moment) and we will therefore only have the RX 6700 XT which will be commercially available on March 18th.”
Reacting to the report by Cowcotland, Videocardz reached out to the French publication for updates, but there were unable to provide further details. And just like any speculative information, we have to wait for an official statement from AMD.
That said, avid gamers might be worried over speculations that France will get only 100 units of the reference cards. What this means is that only the model created by AMD will be made available. So any hopes of AMD partnering with a third-party GPU company to mass-produce this product is off the table.
Even though this news may be disappointing to gamers, it is a lot better than the embarrassingly low stocked that trailed the release of the RX 6800 series which left many countries blacked out. Even at that, this too doesn’t bode well for the imminent rush to purchase the stock before it finishes from the shelf.
And should this be the case, it only means that the stock concerns that have trailed graphic cards for years are set to continue. And if these numbers are correct and accurately reflect what other countries are expecting to receive, then the possibility of laying your hands on a new GPU at an exorbitant price may be slimmer than we envisaged.
